| After signing up for a new powerMonster account, there are some steps you will need to take before your site will be operational. Shortly after you submit your order, you will receive an order confirmation. Then once your account is set up, you will receive a second email indicated the activation of your account. Please retain and take note of the information presented in the welcome email---you'll be referring back to it often as you begin setting up your new site. Login ID and Password---Your primary login ID will be assigned to you as soon as your account is activated. Make note of it as this login ID will be the same used to access all your primary account services such as your cPanel, email, and FTP. Your login ID is case-sensitive. "jack" is not the same ID as "Jack." Your password is also case-sensitive. IP Address---Your IP address is the true address of your website. It indicates the location of a site on the internet. Your site's IP address is synonymous with your acquired domain name. In the first few days after your account is activated, until your domain has propagated throughout the internet, you must use your IP address in place of the domain name to access it. This will no longer be needed once your domain's DNS has been established. Your domain name is merely a pointer to this IP address. Domain Registration---If you will be obtaining a domain name for the first time or a new domain name for your site, then the domain will be automatically registered in your name, unless you indicated otherwise on the sign-up form. If you will be using a domain registered elsewhere, you will need to change the nameservers with your registrar to point to powerMonster's nameservers: ns1.powermonster.net and ns2.powermonster.net. Until your domain is activated, your website will only be reachable by IP address. Note that all domain registration is a third-party contract between you and the network registrar in question, and in most cases, absolutely outside of powerMonster's control. Domain Charges---If you received your domain through powerMonster either free with your account or through purchase/transfer, we will act as the intermediary between you and NetEarthOne, our ICANN registrar. However, if you purchased your domain with another registrar, they will bill you separately for any and al domain charges. Since these other registrars are third-party entities to powerMonster.net, except in very rare cases, we refuse to act as intermediary between you and the registrar. Control Panel (cPanel)---The web-based control panel is available upon the activation of your account, through your browser. Use the temporary URL given to you in your welcome email until your domain has been fully activated. The control panel is covered in greater detail under it's own section cpanel/fantastico in our knowledgebase.
